New FALL album details announced – at last!

Been waiting ages and ages and FUCKING ages for this.

It seems a looong time since Imperial Wax Solvent (May 2008). This is the biggest gap between Fall albums ever, without even an Interim to keep us going!

Details from the record company:

Domino is incredibly proud to announce that it will be releasing the new album from The Fall. Recorded at various studios in the north of England over the past year, Your Future Our Clutter, is Mark E Smith and co’s debut for Domino and will be released on 26th April 2010.

Your Future Our Clutter is The Fall at their most rampant, most forward moving, bone shaking best. With nine tracks that rock like raw fury, we see The Fall heading into their next decade with the same intensity with which they started.

Your Future Our Clutter will be available on double LP (WIGLP245), CD (WIGCD245) & digital download (WIG245D) from 26th April.

I thought it was going to be Our Future Your Clutter but apparently not – though from the track list the phrase does seem reversible in time-honoured M.E.S. style (Elastic / Plastic Man, The Man Whose Head Expanded / Dimished, Older / Younger Lover etc):

1 – O.F.Y.C. Showcase
2 – Bury Pts. 1 + 3

3 – Mexico Wax Solvent

4 – Cowboy George
5 – Hot Cake
6 – Y.F.O.C. / Slippy Floor

7 – Chino

8 – Funnel Of Love
9 – Weather Report 2

Most of these premiered on the recent tour and go back quite a way and Funnel of Love is a cover of a Wanda Jackson song. You can listen to it here and it ‘s another bizarre, obscure, yet genius choice, quite in keeping with previous covers like White Line Fever and Rollin’ Dany. I can almost head M.E.S. singing “deep into the funnel of lurrrve.”

Why Chino isn’t given its fuller, better title of Chino Splashback is beyond me, but it’s the music that counts. Can’t help, however, being an anal Fall obsessive about these things.

At 9 tracks it’ll either be a very short album or a long one, as it’s being released as a double LP that indicates a longer running time (unless it’s a pair of 45pm discs). Here’s hoping for some epic tracks in the vein of Tempo House and Systematic Abuse.

New Fall album AND new Doctor in April – Spring can’t come soon enough!
